Miss New York Has Everything

The 5-Spot VidLits; A Video Book Club for Modern Women
“Miss New York Has Everything” by Lori Jakiela
A VidLit Production.

This video was made using Photoshop and Flash. Photoshop is a great “partner” with Flash to help edit and reduce the file sizes. If the images are too large, you will encounter one or all of these problems:

Flash will work slower when you are making the video.
The video file size will be too large to upload.
The Flash program will crash, and you won’t be able to open the FLA file (Flash file of your workspace.)

To prepare an image/photo for animation:

Open the image in Photoshop.

-Edit the image.
-Make the image the largest size needed in the Flash video. For example, if an image is going to be far away in the distance, and then it comes towards us to take up the size of the screen, you will need to make the image the largest size needed for the shot. If you are editing an image that is going to always be 400 px by 400 px in the video, then make the image in Photoshop, 400px by 400px.
-Got to: Save for the Web. If there is a transparent background, save the image as a PNG or GIF. If the image has a background, then it is best to make the file a JPEG or GIF.
-Save As is another option but the file may be larger than if you picked Saved for the Web.
-You can also choose to Export the image as a PNG, but the file may also be larger than if you Saved for the Web.

With the new Flash version, Animate CC, Adobe has gotten better at supporting larger files, but you should still reduce files as much as you can so the clients/viewers have fewer issues in running your videos.
