Here is a Demo Reel of some of my work produced during 2004 – 2013.

The work was created using the animation software Adobe Flash. In late 2016 I began using Adobe Animate which I consider the best animation software out today (2016).

In 2013 I animated and drew illustrations for the company Time4Learning, an online educational company. They would send the audio and production notes for each video and I was given a great deal of creative leeway in the style and feel of each project. I would add my own sound effects or request the company supply more sound effects to be added for the final production. Working for Time4Learning was very rewarding because I knew my work was helping people.

This video also showcases the logos, animations, and demo clips I created for company presentations. Later, towards the end of the video, you can see a mix of different cartoon illustrations I did for clients as well as the projects I generated on my own. During your “down time”, when you are not working for clients, it’s good practice to make up your own projects to add to your portfolio.

It’s inevitable but after you enter The Wonderful World of Animation, you might be asked to work for free. Or work “on spec.” It is a Bad Idea.

DON’T DO IT!

EVER!

Projects when everyone is working “on spec” rarely get finished. And unfinished projects don’t make money. You can build your career, and your bank account, without working for free. Make your own projects where you can focus on your own talents.

Remember … drawing is like exercising. If you don’t draw for awhile you’ll find that you will get rusty. To loosen up the “rust,” take 10 minutes or so and just draw loose circles, lines, and doodles without any judgment. After loosening up with a few drawing exercises, you are now ready to draw with a clearer mind.
